What’s going on at the Ren Fest?

The Cast

Leading ceremonies and spread throughout the festival are the cast of the NRV Ren Fest. These interactive actors will bring the joy and whimsey of the festival to life. Will you receive a quest from a mysterious stranger, sit with the royal court for a toast, or receive a gift from a fae wonderer? Prepare to be taken to a different world, with our talented cast.

Costume Contest

Will you be crowned best costume of the festival? Show off your craftsmanship and strut your stuff as you are judged by the royal court. Saturday is best Halloween outfit. Sunday is best Ren Fest outfit. Registration for the contest will be happening on the day of the festival.

Historical Reenactment

The Barony of Black Diamond would like to invite you to share their passion for history. They are part of the Society of Creative Anachronism, Inc. (SCA) in the Kingdom of Atlantia. This inclusive community is devoted to the research and re-creation of pre-17th century skills, arts, combat, and culture through displays, experimental research, and demonstrations of their martial skills in a fighting arena.

Cyanwoode

Be transported as Cyanwoode sets the scene with enchanting, tavern-inspired music. The duo blends Irish whistle, hammered dulcimer, lute dulcimer, and voice to create magical, original arrangements of videogame music and Celtic traditional songs.

Geoff the Fiddler

Playing fiddle with musicians of all genres and styles all over Roanoke and beyond, Geoff combines elements of Celtic, Appalachian, and a touch of Cajun fiddling. The result is a unique and authentic American-Celtic style.

The Iowa Goatsinger

Combining puppetry, music, spoken word, and theatrical storytelling. His work has appeared in festivals, live performance showcases, and community arts events throughout the region.
